Aikido

“We need to remember that the primary goal of Aikido is harmony and good relations between people. If we don't cultivate a harmonious heart along with technical skill, there will be a lack of integration in our practice, which will show up in behavior off the mat.”

What is Aikido?

Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed in the 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba. This practice is a synthesis of martial arts, philosophy, and religious teaching. Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying with life energy." Aikido focuses on movements that redirect the momentum of an opponent's attack. The goal is to defend oneself without truly harming the opponent or attacker.
