What is Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction?
Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. MBSR was developed to assist people with a wide range of conditions such as stress, anxiety and pain. Through a combination of meditation, body awareness, yoga and other practices MBSR helps people improves their quality of life. While many mindfulness techniques employed by MBSR are rooted in Buddhism, the program itself is secular and is practiced by people of all faiths and none.
